As Active Life Center brings to you a new range of group exercise classes besides our popular Active Kickboxing Fitness class, let’s zoom in on Active Functional Fitness!

What’s a functional fitness class you might ask?

Functional Fitness/Training definition is strength training aimed at improving functional capacity – that is; the ability to perform daily physical tasks, occupational or sports specific tasks, simple and/or complex motor activities with ease, efficiency, strength and control.

Typically, a functional training program will demonstrate a well balanced comprehensive approach to conditioning or rehabilitation that addresses all the performance components necessary to achieve success in any target activity.

One of the main equipments we would be using is Stroops which we posted a preview on yesterday!

Stroops is an amazing story in itself. Stroops being the brainchild of Shon Harker and the combination of a Strap and Loop ‘Stroop’ System that allows many applications in Strength and conditioning.

Add to that the formation of an elastic band with a covered sleeve gives you the safest yet most effective resistance band variety on the market today.

Here are a few exciting Stroops equipment you’ll see in Active Life Center:


The Accelerator was designed to help athletes accelerate more quickly and powerfully, and for longer distances.

While the Explosive First Step focuses on an athlete’s initial burst of speed in the first steps, the Accelerator focuses on maximizing an person’s first 30 feet—when her or she is accelerating. 

Beast Battle Ropes

The Stroops Battle Rope is the only performance training tool that provides strength training that incorporates every major muscle group throughout each exercise.

Unlike traditional ropes, which only allow a single plane of force, Stroops Battle Rope incorporates Slastix technology, with heavy resistance that elicits muscle contractions throughout the entire body up to three training planes simultaneously.

Double Gun

With the Double Gun, athletes can leverage the power of resistance. Use the Double Gun to gain the most out of upper and lower-body activities such as throwing a medicine ball, boxing, or performing plyometric drills.
