It’s been 2 weeks since the circuit breaker has begun and you’d be lying if you said you have not experienced “cabin fever” yet.
No matter how nice your house is, it is frustrating not being able to meet people face to face and go out to do what you want.
What we can do however, is exercise.
Here are some nature trails that you can explore if you’re bored of walking around your neighbourhood canal everyday:
** In light of stricter measures implemented about exercising outdoors, only exercise outdoors if you have to and go to these trails if they are near your residential area – do also remember to wear your mask when going for walks and go alone.
Bukit Batok Town Park
Bukit Batok Nature Reserve is known for one thing – Little Guilin.
Once a quarry, it has now been turned into a well known nature park due to the scenic rock structures found there.
This trail will definitely transport you to a whole new world – away from the buildings and the confined space of your room, it is a view you can spend a long time just looking at and appreciating.
Definitely worth the walk!
Fun fact: It’s named “Little Guilin” because it resembles the granite rock formations in Guilin, China!
MacRitchie Reservoir Park
If you love trees, this trail is for you!
MacRitchie Reservoir Park has extensive hiking trails for you to explore, so get ready to spend hours in this park!
The famous Tree Top Walk (250m long suspension bridge) will take you over the forest canopy to have a bird-eyes view of the park.
You will even encounter various wildlife – monkeys, monitor lizards etc. so do be careful when you stop for a little snack break.
Lower Seletar Reservoir Park
If trees and hiking isn’t really your thing, maybe this will be the trail for you!
Enjoy the cool breeze as you stroll along the boardwalk, taking in the scenic waters around you. This is sure to keep you calm and help you to get rid of all the frustrations of being kept indoors all day.
Perfect after a long day of working from home!
Coast to Coast Trail
This one is for the brave and the bold, the new 36km trail that spans across the whole of Singapore connecting various parks and connectors to create one mega trail.
Starting from Jurong Lake Gardens in the West, the trail will take you all the way to Coney Island Park in the northeast!
Definitely not for the faint of heart, you will need to set aside a whole day or 2 if you want to complete this.
With that said, the trail is family friendly and you can enter and exit the trail whenever you wish so no need to worry about the 36km length.
In light of new Covid-19 circuit breaker restrictions, keep this trail for a family outing in the future when the pandemic is in control and eradicated.
As you explore some of these trails, we hope that you continue to be safe throughout the circuit breaker period and create new habits of exercising both at home and outdoors and appreciate the amazing nature that we have.
