Running for a cause is not a new concept.
In Singapore, we have a lot of different running events to not only raise awareness on certain issues or causes, but to bring people together in support of these causes to inspire hope and change.
Exercise is a great way to bring people together.
During this time, when we are unable to physically stand together (or run in this case), it is even more so important to show our support to our nation during these times.
Here are some of the online runs that you can take part in to show your support and to stand #SGUnited.
Run For Singapore
With National Day coming up, we all know that the celebration of our independence is going to be a very different one this year.
However, that does not mean we have no part to play.
Run For Singapore is an online running challenge under Asia Online Run™ series that celebrates Singapore’s 55th National day by encouraging participants to get active through running and hitting a collective distance goal together.
The distance goal is based on the years of a country’s independence. In the 3rd edition, everyone is welcome to run 5.5km or 55km individually and contribute to Singapore’s 55,000km total distance goal this year.
Despite running alone, you will still be running together with many other Singaporeans in celebration of our country and in support of overcoming this pandemic together.

Run For Heroes
Another initiative leading up to National Day is Run For Heroes 2020.
Run For Heroes 2020 is a ground-breaking virtual running initiative that aims to build a national movement of support for Singapore’s healthcare and service frontliners.
Supported by SportSG and SG United, the event aims to build a movement that transcends sports to create a real and tangible impact. Run for Heroes will create a direct expression of the collective gratitude for our frontline heroes.
After completing a 1-kilometre run, participants will be entitled to two iconic red and white wristbands which serve as a unifying symbol of support, with one wristband being sent to a frontliner with a personalised message of thanks.
This run is unique to our current situation and is an even more direct way of showing your support to our healthcare workers and service frontliners.
Show your support today by checking out the website here.
Majulah Run
This run is a little bit different, where you will run for 55 days instead of a specified distance.
Once again, however, it is in celebration of Singapore’s birthday, where we celebrate the strength of our nation in unity.
Maju Lah! Virtual Run is a one-of-a-kind race that spans 55 days of running in commemoration of Singapore’s 55th year of independence.
It is more than just a virtual run. It is the virtual run to encourage a positive mindset, strengthen our bodies and to demonstrate our coming together as a nation and our indomitable spirit in challenging times.

Exercise does a lot more than just keep you fit, there is always the social aspect that we forget.
It builds relationships, inspires unity and best of all, demonstrates hope.
We hope that you will stand together and in support for our nation in overcoming this tough time.
