Introducing – Active Trainer Rachel

Client Turned Trainer

Rachel (as seen in picture below) first joined us as a client, interested in our Active Kickboxing Fitness Programme and had a passion for the sport. From as early as 2013, Rachel joined our regular kickboxing classes, looking to improve her fitness in a fun and unique way.

Fast forward 2 years later, in October 2015, with her passion burning and having a flair for exercise, Rachel decided to take up our WAKO-Accredited Active Kickboxing Fitness Trainer Certification (Level 1), to take things to the next level. She had a deep desire within her heart to coach, nurture and help women to improve their fitness in a fun, sustainable and exciting manner.

An aspiring teacher and currently undergoing training at NIE (National Institute of Education), she maintains a healthy balance of work while fanning the flames of her passion (in kickboxing).

After her finishing her teaching hours (in the day) at NIE, Rachel dives in to train at our (Active Red) kickboxing classes during the evenings. This healthy work-passion mix allows Rachel to actively seek out a career (as a teacher), whilst developing her passion (in kickboxing).

But that’s not all, this feisty trainer-in-training takes over our classes from time-to-time to practice her teaching hours for our fitness classes! You’ll be sure to catch her quite often at our center, whether it’s training to improve her kickboxing skills or teaching to develop her coaching capabilities!

Our online store has an extensive array of products that you can use for different types of exercises! Like we have said in our previous posts, we have products that can help you to warm-up, to products that can help you tone your body. Most of our equipment can be used in the comfort of your own home, and you can take them out as and when you like, at your own convenience! And we even have apparel so that you can look good when exercising!

Our store also sells kickboxing equipment, from gloves to thai pads, we have it! We even have our very own Active Kickboxing equipment, which is of high quality so that it lasts long and will protect you from any injuries!

How to get rid of aches and pains?

After trying out the workouts in our pasts few posts, your muscles are sure aching really badly now 😦 and we are sure that you would like to get rid of it ASAP, sooo why not find a way to treat it!

But who has the time and energy to get off your bed/sofa to visit a masseuse or a chiropractor, why not do it using a foam roller in the comfort of your own home!

Here at Active Red we would like to recommend getting foam rollers that are denser so that they would last longer. The foam rollers that we provide are not like the normal kinds that have the indentations on them but instead have a flat surface all round, so that it would be gentler on the user.

All you need to do to relieve your pain when using a foam roller is to place the aching muscles on the foam roller and apply pressure to get rid of the pain!

Kickboxing Essentials!

Love exercise but don’t want to stick to your usual routine?

Why not try kickboxing!! It is a fun and high intensity workout that will change up your typical workout routine 

However, to learn kickboxing you will need to have a few essential pieces of equipment!

Boxing gloves

This is the most basic piece of equipment that you will need if you want to learn kickboxing! It is also important that you get a pair that will last long and also one that is very secure so that you don’t injure yourself while training!

So why not invest in a pair of our Active Kickboxing Gloves? They are made of leather to guarantee that they will last long, it also had multi layered foam so that it will protect you from any hard punches. They also have a structured thumb guard that will protect you from and finger injuries!

Handwraps

What is the other thing that you need when you have boxing gloves?? Handwraps of course!! We will be selling handwraps from TWINS, a well-known brand when it comes to MMA related accessories. Handwraps are very important in protecting your fingers and your wrists from potential injuries ✌🏻

Thaipads

To train properly you would need something to punch against, and what many kickboxers use would be Thaipads. We also do sell thaipads and they as guaranteed to be extremely durable and a lot more lightweight that the other ones out there that require more strength to carry. This makes it especially great for beginners to use as it will be easier to carry!

Our thaipads are also extremely versatile, which means that you don’t just need to use them for kickboxing but you can also use them for MMA or even muay thai!!

Agility and Resistance Training! Workouts to TONE your body!

Looking to tone your body but just don’t have the time to do it because of your busy schedule? Well you don’t always need to go down to the gym to use the equipment there, there are always other options that can done in the comfort of your own home! 🙂

All the items talked about don’t take up much space at all and are highly effective in toning your muscles!

Agility Ladder/ Agility Rings

It is always very important to warm-up before you do any workout, so why not do an exercise that can warm-up your muscles and improve you agility at the same time!

Using agility ladders and agility rings you can improve your hand eye coordination and it is great at getting your heart pumping!

Here’s a simple footwork workout using the agility ladder! You can also easily replicate these exercises with agility rings instead of an agility ladder 🙂

Resistance Bands

Now that warm-ups are done, lets get to tougher part of this workout!

Resistance bands…. They don’t seem like much when you look at them but when you really use them they can really work your muscles💪🏻

Here you can see that resistance bands don’t just need to be used for your arms, you can always target other parts of your body, like your legs if you want to! They could even focus on parts of your body that are very hard to train such as your butt and your back, using resistance bands it would be easier to fight these problem areas! 🙂

We’ve had the pleasure of teaching Rachel during our previous WAKO-Accredited Active Kickboxing Fitness Certification Seminar in June 2016!

Rachael leads an active lifestyle with a great passion for fitness. She eagerly seeks to expand her knowledge and fervently pursues to improve herself.

Upon hearing about our Kickboxing Fitness Certification Seminar, Rachael pounced on the opportunity to take up the course!

Home Workouts!

Sure you can  do your workout at home, but those static workouts can get a little boring after a while.. So why not spice it up using some equipment! 😀

The two that we would recommend for home workouts would be using exercise balls or a balance trainer! The reason why they are extremely good for home workouts it because of how versatile they are, so you could always change up your workout if you are getting bored of one routine! Just imagine one piece of equipment, and an endless number of workouts for you to choose from!

AOK Mediball Pro

Using an exercise ball you could do exercises like push-ups, or inner thigh presses, this list goes on and on! Some benefits that come along with using an exercise ball in your workout would be that it increases your stability and actually targets a lot of different muscle groups!

Here is a simple push-up workout that you could easily do with an exercise ball. To increase the intensity of this push-up you could balance your lower part your legs rather than on your knees while doing it. This will help to increase your stability and also works your abs as well!

If you were to get an exercise ball we would recommend the AOK Mediball Pro as it is the brand that is used by many health and professional trainers worldwide!

BOSU Balance Trainer Pro

This balance trainer might look weird at first sight but it is extremely effective once you know how to use it! Since this balance trainer has one flat and one curved side, it is a better choice for beginners to use compared to an exercise ball is totally round.

Here is an example of how to use a BOSU Balance Trainer Pro. For beginners, they could always turn it around and use the flat side instead for increased stability.
